@everyone,
For me, today is a day of happy announcements.
In addition to the recent release of SSK 2 on the Corona Marketplace,
I am also releasing the ‘Roaming Gamer Particle Editor 2’ (aka RGPE2 ) for free to all SSK2 PRO owners.
Read about it here: RGPE2 Docs
Get it here: Direct Download
Remember, this requires SSK2 PRO to run.
Folks, I submitted a couple of small bug fixes to this and released a version 2.1 (last updated today 26 DEC 2016).
Emitter request
Is a rain emitter a possibility. I messed with existing ones but couldn’t generate anything even remotely acceptable (my naivety)
No harm in asking right.
Answer Part 1
I take it you’re asking for one of the default emitters to be a ‘rain’ emitter.
I’ll see, but I have to admit I’m not actually a emitter expert. Nonetheless, we’ll see.
Answer Part 2
It would help me if you and others did some research on this.
The way to do that is as follows:
- Find examples
-
Find suitable emitter definitions made with 71Squared Particle Designer (https://71squared.com/particledesigner)
-
Find suitable emitter definitions made with the ‘Starling Emitter Format (xml or json)’
Note: SSK2 users can load alternate emitter definitions with this loader: https://roaminggamer.github.io/RGDocs/pages/SSK2/libraries/pex/
- Link those examples here.
Then, I can look into adding them to the default library.
Cheers,
Ed

Fair comment, I’ll see what I can come up with and post it here as you did with the follow up.
OK, came up with this link…
I took a look at the rain.pex file, and manually keyed in the son values to RGEP2. It looked more like a waterfall :) (Screen attached)
I’ll let you have a quick look though. Let me know if you need further information on it.
(This was the only rain.pex (or json) file I could come up with. Unity seems to have one but I believe it’s proprietary, and Cocos seems to have the particle built in).
Don’t worry if it doesn’t pan out, it isn’t meant to be a big ‘make work’ project. Hopefully this one will be closest…
Hi Ed,
I just got your Particle Editor 2 and played around with the samples. This looks a little different than the payware version I saw on YouTube. There’s no SAVE/SEND. I use the Explore option, however, the Explore -> Output option doesn’t seem to work. It opens an empty folder in Desktop named RGPE2_out, and nothing happens. So I tried the Export - DB Files, and it showed me 3 files in the Sandbox folder, with three files:
defaultNewEmitter.json
emitterLib.json
emitterLib.rg
I tried using all three but Corona returns an error “invalid EmitterObject” . Did I miss anything?
Cheers,
Santi

Question: What version of Corona are you using. 2017. ???
-
This tool is working for me on a Windows system running Corona 2017.3032. Please follow the steps in this video and see if you have success too:
Hi Ed,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Sorry I forgot to include the critical stuff:
Corona: 2992
Win: 7 Ultimate
I will view this video and see if i can get my copy to work. Will keep you posted.
Thanks!!
I’m hoping you’ll be good to go. (Fingers crossed.)
Note: I realize I could do a better job of documenting the tools, but I’m afraid all my effort has been going into personal/client projects and SSK2 features and docs.
Cheers,
Ed
Hey! Dang it! Looks like the docs link above was broken.
Try this: https://roaminggamer.github.io/RGDocs/pages/RGPE2/
All good Ed!!
I realized I was just too stupid not to notice that tiny “export” arrow next to “green eye” icon :P
Also, I didn’t know you can double-click on the emitter name to rename it ;)
I think the video is more than adequate. I just didn’t find this video on youtube (instead i saw the “old, old, old… payware version” ).
I tried the docs link but i they’re broken… I think your site is under maintenance?
Anyway, I’m good to go now! A million thanks for this very handy tool! Will look forward to any new cool tools you may come up with.
Santi
Haha! I mentioned that broken link in my reply, but you found it and typed faster before I posted mine! :)
