Rum - A game/app helper library. Looking for testers!

I have just released the first version (0.1) of Rum, a little helper library I have been putting together. It is still in Alpha and is missing a lot of features I have planned however I would like some testers.

If you are interested either reply here or email me.

Hi Graham,
It looks amazing, and I am sure that a lot of beginners would want to use that in their apps to give it a professional look out of the box.

Also will have a review on the Alpha that you have on reviewme.oz-apps.com soon.

cheers,

I’d love to give it a try too

Hi Graham,
Are there any portions that require the physical device or can all of RUM’s capabilities be tested in the simulator? I cannot get the sprite sheets working on the simulator build .296

The sample code that uses the functions in RUM make it easy to understand. [import]uid: 3826 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 25884[/import]

Emails all replied to

You should be able to have everything running in the Simulator (half the point of Rum is to make working in the Simulator easier  ) however I have not tested with the Daily builds.

For the sprite sheets were you using the Sprite Sheet data files? As that doesn’t work in 0.1 as I haven’t made any data files to test with. A test file would be helpful if this is the case. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 25922[/import]

Hey, Graham, just downloaded Rum and poking around, noticed it has rendered my text fields not text fields  That is, they appear but I can’t add anything to them. Is this the way it is supposed to work, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

EDIT: OK, I see now that yes, that is probably exactly how it is supposed to work. Now I’m trying, per the comments in the Rum module, to not use the native text field components but despite calling

rum.base.native.newTextField ()
rum.base.native.newTextBox ()

I am still seeing the Rum text field objects. I’m sure I’m making an utter hash of it - any guidance?

2nd EDIT: getting ridiculous, just wanted to save you the trouble of responding if you were going to  Solved the problem by just commenting the function in the Rum module itself. [import]uid: 96383 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 80419[/import]

Yeah native textbox’s etc are supported in the simulator now  [import]uid: 84637 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 80457[/import]

@ khincker

Sorry was at work and wasn’t able to reply but yes a lot of Rum is now outdated as various things are now supported. I plan to do an overhaul to Rum at somepoint however there are still lots of functions in there currently that will be useful. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 80484[/import]

Come on Graham, that Cuba Libre wont make itself! [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 80568[/import]

Is the game compatible for android devices? Or a better question, are there games made with CoraSDK compatible for Android Devices? [import]uid: 118942 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 80575[/import]

Rum isn’t a game - but yes, Corona can make games for Android. [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 80582[/import]

I´m afraid that the link doesn’t work. is it OK? I go to a page with no relation with RUM. [import]uid: 12618 topic_id: 7329 reply_id: 80824[/import]
