Sales drop on iOS (In-App purchases)?

We are noticing a huge inrease on chinese downloads for our apps over the last weeks.

And at the same time the In-App purchases are dropping.

Is anyone else encountering this?

Could it be possible there is a problem with “old” purchase code in Corona and older live apps?

This most definitely is happening.

Japan and China have increased my downloads 5x compared to previous download numbers.

@ d.mach However! I have noticed that I get no more bootups according to my Chartboost portal than before the 5x download increase that started a few weeks ago.

I also noticed that I do not serve any more AdMob ads since the download increase.

So - Apple report 5x download increase yet my ad providers say otherwise. AdMob and AppLovin do serve ads in China.

Still - Chartboost dash is showing no increase in bootups. Very odd. Reporting error from Apple? Bot downloads?

Displeased at the increase in downloads not giving an increase in revenue…

There must be others out there.

My IAPs are working - doubt the code is broke for old apps.

You cannot ever equate downloads to purchases - unless you have a very narrow targeted CPI campaign to a player base you know will convert.

Saying that I have noticed increased support from iOS this weekend regarding “failed purchases” but this seems to be fixed now - the time period that experienced issues was Friday to late Sunday.

One must always have many versions of the truth - I would suggest Google Analytics as a benchmark to cross-reference against other sources of “downloads”.  Remember a download does NOT EQUAL and active user - users can download without ever opening your app.

Always go with ad network figures over app store figures as these count active users and not download and not open users.

Good points there adrianm.

Especially the “Remember a download does NOT EQUAL and active user - users can download without ever opening your app.”

Thanks.

I think the answer is obvious now that I think about it.

The vast majority of downloads coming from Japan/China are users who are playing offline.

I can’t be sure this is the explanation - but it seems most likely.

I know nothing of the China/Japan market - perhaps it is normal for users to play offline and eliminate the ads.

It would sure explain why my Chartboost dash shows no increase in bootups and no increase in AdMob ads served.

Ah well - time to move on!

That’s not the case here. And educational institution downloads are also not possible because they are each day.

Anyone experiencing drops in downloads in Europe and the USA?

So far, I have noticed a sudden drop of installs from Apr 3, which coincides with iOS 10.3.1 launch. For me, the countries mostly affected are the US, China & Turkey.
