Screen resolutions and the corona simulator

Hi,

As there are a lot of resolutions used on mobile devices

320x240 QVGA (Archos28)
400x240 WQVGA (Archos32)
480x320 (Iphone 3 + Itouch old)
854x480 FWVGA (Archos43 + Droid)
800x480 WVGA (Archos70, Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy)
960x640 (Iphone 4 + Itouch new)
1024x600 WXVGA (Archos101, Samsung Galaxy Tab)
1024x768 XVGA (Ipad)

Can the simulator be set to show ANY of these resolutions, even 320x240?

Not at the moment.

We may be able to allow that in the future. Given the number of devices with different form factors, we are aware of such request and our current limitation.

So how do we develop then for for example a res of 320x240 ?
or is it not possible at all at this moment?

And what are the currently supported resolutions for android and for iphone?

Kind regards,

To simulate a 320x240 screen, you can set the resolution in config.lua and run it in iPhone mode.

application =
{
 content =
 {
 width = 320,
 height = 240,
 scale = "none", -- turns off dynamic content scaling

 },
}

Resolutions of the simulator skins:
iPhone: 320 x 480
iPhone4: 640 x 960
iPad: 768 x 1024
Droid: 480 x 854
Nexus One: 480 x 800
MyTouch: 320 x 480

Are there any plans to add more resolutions soon?

Like 1024x600 WXVGA (Archos101, Samsung Galaxy Tab)

Or maybe just have an option “CUSTOM” between the other presets so yo can set your own resolution for testing.

Very soon we’re going to see an explosiong of android phones and tablets and the amount of resolutions will also explode from ultralow to ultrahigh, so maybe a variable resolution setting in the simulator wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all?
