Seeking bids on Kids App Development

RFP: Seeking bids on Kids App Development

Purpose/Objective

To determine the cost and timeline of developing the Creature Freaks app.

Background:

Partners seeking bids to finish our app, Creature Freaks.

•Excellent design, completed UX-user flow.

•Prior developer completed half the project (Cocos 2D iPad prototype), but we’re open to other development approaches. Partners would like to use Kickstarter to raise funds ASAP.

•Full resolution QT movie from Flash prototype available for reference.

Audience:

3-7 year olds

App Overview:

Kids spin the wheel to choose from a
number of body parts—heads, eyes, torsos, arms, legs, etc, to build the
creature of their dream.

Features of the app:

o   Illustration designed by professional artist Chuck Whelon (www.whelon.com)

o
Free App with In-App purchase of add-on art packs

o
Initial version includes minimal gestures-based interaction with creature, creative play, no
gaming

o
Sound design

o   Phase 2 adds basic photo integration, more Gestures support, and potentially support for other OSes and other standard modular additional features

Functions of the app:

o   3 main screens with touch-based swipe to next screen

§
1:  Build creature

·
Multiple pull-off creature body parts that kids assemble in the center of main screen.

·
Scale, rotate, flip, forward/back layering, and deletion  of body parts

·
In-app purchase of add-on art packs for more body parts

·
Rotate wheel graphic to swipe/turn to the next page

§
2: Animate / play/interact with creature

o

Minimal inverse kinematics animation. Details in our UX.

o   Sound queued to user actions and timed frame loop animation

What we have to offer:

Excellent Organized Art Assets

·
No game play

·
Although the initial development is native, we would consider using a multi-platform distribution SDK development framework

·
Minimal animation

·
Video of a flash version of the entire app user flow is available.

·
All assets and sound selection are complete.

Deliverables:

Final App posted to our iTunes account

Proposed milestones / checkpoints:

We are raising funds through Kickstarter and want to begin development by November/December

Approval Process:

We will all provide QA support, and have enthusiastic testers (aka our children!)

We want to develop November/December.  Here we are trying to determine how much this app will cost to complete to secure funding.  Can you give an estimate based on the info here?

Hi Jay,

I’d love to generate a proposal for your project - could you provide a link to the Flash prototype video and an email where I can communicate directly with you? In the meantime, you can check out my website at www.jasonschroeder.com, or email me at jason[at]jasonschroeder[dot]com.

Thanks!
