RFP: Seeking bids on Kids App Development
Purpose/Objective
To determine the cost and timeline of developing the Creature Freaks app.
Background:
Partners seeking bids to finish our app, Creature Freaks.
•Excellent design, completed UX-user flow.
•Prior developer completed half the project (Cocos 2D iPad prototype), but we’re open to other development approaches. Partners would like to use Kickstarter to raise funds ASAP.
•Full resolution QT movie from Flash prototype available for reference.
Audience:
3-7 year olds
App Overview:
Kids spin the wheel to choose from a
number of body parts—heads, eyes, torsos, arms, legs, etc, to build the
creature of their dream.
Features of the app:
o Illustration designed by professional artist Chuck Whelon (www.whelon.com)

Free App with In-App purchase of add-on art packs
o
Initial version includes minimal gestures-based interaction with creature, creative play, no
gaming
o
Sound design
o Phase 2 adds basic photo integration, more Gestures support, and potentially support for other OSes and other standard modular additional features
Functions of the app:
o 3 main screens with touch-based swipe to next screen

1: Build creature

Multiple pull-off creature body parts that kids assemble in the center of main screen.

Scale, rotate, flip, forward/back layering, and deletion of body parts
·
In-app purchase of add-on art packs for more body parts
·
Rotate wheel graphic to swipe/turn to the next page

2: Animate / play/interact with creature
o
Minimal inverse kinematics animation. Details in our UX.
o Sound queued to user actions and timed frame loop animation

We are raising funds through Kickstarter and want to begin development by November/December

We will all provide QA support, and have enthusiastic testers (aka our children!)

Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of game development experience with rich media elements
Published Apps in Apple’s app store
Relevant work examples with links to
