Select multiple photos from phone gallery

I am looking for the best option to allow a user to select multiple images from the phone’s gallery, without having to open the gallery one picture at the time.

My app uses these pictures to send them to a server and print them. Currently I use the media.selectPhoto call in my app to open the photo library and save the selected picture to a file so my app can upload it later. 

Is there a way to allow the user to select more than 1 picture at the time? The current Corona Labs API does not allow this, but I think there would be a way around it, using Enterprise “tricks” or some native code.

I would like to know if it is possible (or at least plausible) and I am open for deals. Meaning you can send me a quote if you can do it :slight_smile:

My app has to have multiple image select from the camroll. Is there anyway?! Please!

@springmorning. It’s really frustrating these little limitations that put you down realizing that your good and simple idea won’t work, even when you have a Pro or Enterprise subscription! I am currently struggling to save big size photos at full resolution (bigger than the iPhone resolution), and now facing the other issue of selecting multiple photos from the camroll. After coming this long way and after all the good efforts the corona team has put in, one would think that these kind of limitations don’t exist anymore. Corona team, please help us, we are trying to push the boundaries by focusing or business apps, please support us with these basic requirements. Thanks in advance for any kind of asisistnace.

@frank, yeah I can relate to that. But I was very surprised to see that my customer accepted my statement that “it cannot be done without a major rewrite” :slight_smile:

If this feature is implemented in Pro, my apps would very much benefit from it, though. Do you think we could share the costs for having someone write a plugin for that (iOS & Android)?

@springmorning, glad your customer accepted that. I do want this feature and I am not even sure if it’s possible to write a plugin for that. I mainly care about iOS for the time being and I think the easiest way to achieve it should come from the Corona support team. I wouldn’t mind the offer if the plugin was solid and works flawlessly cross-platform!

To all who are interested : we are currently talking about sharing costs to have someone develop a plugin that allows multiple images to be selected from the camera roll. If you think you can build us a plugin with the following features, let us know:

  • Open up cameraroll to select multiple pictures
  • Return selected items in a similar manner like it works with the current media.selectPhoto API call
  • Support iOS and Android
  • Preferably support Windows Phone (not sure about the possibilities here)
  • Preferably usable as a plugin in a Pro subscription 

To Corona Labs : if you are already in the process of developing such a feature, please give us a heads up, so we will cancel our plans.

I have not heard any thing about us updating the camera picker. Go with the plugin…
