SFTP Authentication issue

When spinning up new Digital Ocean droplet, and preceding per directions to create a Coronium instance, I am successful up to the point of creating an FTP connection in FileZilla. I can get to the coronium admin page fine, and there are no errors in the installation process, but when I connect with FTP I get this error. I have tried with multiple droplets and gone through the process several times with the same result:

Command: Pass: *********

Error: Authentication failed.

Error: Critical error

Error: Could not connect to server

Hi,

I’ll take a look.

Just to double check, you are logging in with the coronium user? The root user is locked down.

Cheers.

I’ve tried both  I have several other instances which are logged in as root successfully, so maybe that is a change with the most current Coronium version?

Hi,

Yeah, the root user is/should be locked down. I’m curious how you are able to log in as root on your other instances. Also, running as root can cause other issues that may not always be obvious since the system is built to use the ‘coronium’ user. The ‘coronium’ user has “sudo” privileges (which give it root like power), so that should always be used.

I know you’re well versed in Coronium (and I thank you for that  ), I was just asking about the log in before I started breaking – I mean – fixing stuff.

I’ll update you shortly.

Cheers.

Hi,

Well, I was able to log in via SFTP with no issues.

SFTP:

host: my-droplet.ip

user: coronium

pw: coroniumadmin

You can change the password on the command line using ‘passwd’, and follow the prompts.

The install page was updated with the last Coronium update, so it may be something different?

Let me know.

Cheers.

Got it. Previously I have logged in with SFTP as root, with the root password (updated Ubuntu password) so I had been trying with root and Coronium as users, but with that password - and obviously that does not work with the newest version of Coronium. But using  coroniumadmin I was able to log in via SFTP. Sorry for confusion. But it is good to know that I will have to change the saved user and pass when I update my existing Coronium instances eventually!

Glad to hear it worked out. The Ubuntu installer has gone through some growing pains recently, but it should be a better build overall.

Sorry for shuffling things around, everything should stay as it is for now.

Cheers.
