Simple Audio RecorderSound audio coming out of earpiece, not speaker

Hi,

I’ve only been corona for a couple days (ex gamesalad user) and I’m already in love!

Forgive me if this has been answered:

I’m playing with the Simple Audio Recorder sample code and noticed that the recorded sound is coming out of the iphone’s earpiece only and very quietly.
Is there a setting to blast it out of the speaker instead?

I’m getting sound out of the speaker in other apps
Thanks!

Hey Alex,

I just ran a test with this using an iPhone4 (only iPhone I have access to this second) running iOS5. Built using the latest sample code found in the SampleCode > Media folder from build 704.

Can you give any more details, please?

RE the volume, using [lua]audio.setVolume( 1.0 )[/lua] may make it slightly louder.

Hi Peach!

Thanks for getting back so quick!
I too am using an iphone 4 and the latest build. The issue I’m having is that the sound is coming out of the earpiece of my iphone, not the bottom amplified loudspeaker. Does that make sense?

The volume is loud if you hold the phone to your face but i was hoping to try a parrot type app. Maybe activating recording turns the amp off and puts it in conversation mode?

Thanks
Alex

Ah I understand now - sorry, crossed wires.

I read the “earpiece” for some reason as being headphones.

I’ll try to find out more about this for you in the coming days.

Merry Christmas!

May I know if this problem has been fixed? I have the same problem after recording some sound from iPhone [import]uid: 18718 topic_id: 19573 reply_id: 105261[/import]

Hello!
Not as far as I can tell. I moved on to other projects in the meantime.
Please keep me in the loop if you do figure out how to play a recorded sound back through the loudspeaker ( not ear piece)
Cheers

If you are doing simultaneous playback and record on iOS, this is by Apple’s design to minimize feedback loops.

If you are not doing simultaneous playback and record but are specifying it to workaround the iOS 5 bug (http://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2011/10/14/ios-5-problem-help-my-app-waiting-review), you must file a bug with Apple.

In both cases, you might be able to override the behavior with the advanced AudioSession APIs with
kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideAudioRoute. See https://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2011/06/05/new-audiosession-properties?page=1&destination= [import]uid: 7563 topic_id: 19573 reply_id: 105457[/import]

Has anyone been able to fix this?
