SimpleTuner example project not found

Hello,

I’m looking for the “SimpleTuner” example project but it is not in my list. Did they remove it from the latest release? It says on the website that it should be included in the “Samples” page from the Corona SDK launcher.

Hi @elias.m.ericson,

Are you referring to the “SimpleMixer” sample? Can you point me to the website page which speaks of “SimpleTuner”? I would like to compare for context.

Thanks,

Brent

Yes, here is the link https://coronalabs.com/products/sample-code/

scroll down to media and you can see SimpleTuner

Hi @elias.m.ericson,

Apologies for that, it looks like that page was outdated and inaccurate (I have made it redirect to the official repository of samples). I asked the engineers about this, and they report that SimpleTuner was removed from our samples some time ago as a result of hardware issues, inconsistency across platforms, and other reasons. You may be able to find some legacy version of it floating around the web, but officially we do not support that sample any longer.

Best regards,

Brent

Will it be supported in upcoming versions, if so when?

Hi @elias.m.ericson,

I don’t forsee this sample being supported in the future. It was somewhat unreliable on iOS and even less reliable on Android.

May I ask exactly what type of app you’re planning to build? What overall functionality?

Brent

I want to try out the tuning functionality for tuning instruments

Hi @elias.m.ericson,

Our old tuner API analyzed the audio received from the microphone and could (sometimes) predict which note and how loud it was. Because of the issues I described earlier, we removed it. This type of functionality seems more suited to Corona Enterprise, or you can file a feature request to gather votes for a plugin which may have similar functionality: http://feedback.coronalabs.com

Best regards,

Brent
