simulator full screen and borderless modes

The game I’m developing requires a lot of finger swiping. At times it gets frenetic and I find I often accidentally drag the simulator window itself around the desktop, or worse, swipe out of the simulator and into some other desktop window where I inevitably drag some poor file out of its folder.

It would be useful to have a full screen mode/window for the simulator. The simulator would be centered in the window and so couldn’t be dragged around, and everything behind the window on the desktop would be hidden from view.

I’d also like to be able to remove the phone border graphic of the simulator. As it is now, an Iphone4 simulator doesn’t entirely fit on my computer monitor at full resolution because the graphic border is so tall. The current border looks cool, but it’s impeding my ability to check HD graphics in game at full resolution.

That would be great.
A full screen mode + some app like Air Display could be an amazing combo to test touch and design of the app.
It shouldnt be difficult to implement I guess. [import]uid: 9158 topic_id: 7169 reply_id: 25389[/import]

Or, be able to drag the simulator around to at least simulate 2D accelerometer… [import]uid: 8271 topic_id: 7169 reply_id: 25524[/import]

+1 for a skinless simulator!

I was working on my 15" MacBook Pro today and the iPad simulator doesn’t even fit on the screen! I ended up having to hide the dock to see the buttons on the bottom.

While the iPad (and others) skins are “cool” and should remain the default so new people can see the coolness, being able to toggle those on and off could be *SO* nice for hard-core development.

I’ve experienced this same issue with accidentally flicking my simulator window into oblivion when trying to test a game. I agree about the borders being awesome “most of the time” but wishing there was an option to disable them some of the time. Even if there was just a “null” skin that was a super thin border with no device graphic, that would be great.

But the best part of this request, in my opinion, is the full screen mode. I often wish I could just hide everything and have my game show front and center on the screen, especially when demoing a build on the computer to someone else. [import]uid: 14598 topic_id: 7169 reply_id: 35837[/import]

Exactly, a no border device and a full screen mode would be a huge help in testing the app on notebooks.

And also, Fullscreen + AirDisplay = real time tests on device without compiling! [import]uid: 9158 topic_id: 7169 reply_id: 35841[/import]

I’ve got a 15" pro and every sim fits very easily onto the screen. What resolutions are you guys running and are you running the sim zoomed in? If you hold CMD and press - it should zoom back out to what the default zoom level should be (maybe that got messed up in a recent build or something.) @horacebury:

The issue for me is that i’m creating an HD res. game and would like to be able to check graphics at full resolution. Zooming in an iPhone 4 so pixels are 1:1 would work fine on my monitor IF there was no graphic border around the simulator screen. (The iPad barely does fit so i’m using that to check.)

But still there is the desire to have a full screen mode with the simulator window centered and unmovable, for quick user tests without having to compile on a phone, and to prevent the accidental screen movement when aggressively swiping. [import]uid: 9422 topic_id: 7169 reply_id: 35936[/import]

Am I correct is thinking that you are running your mac desktop at the same resolution as your iPhone or iPad device?

If not, when the simulator is ‘zoomed out’ it will be displaying a 1:1 pixel scaling.

Personally, I run my desktop at it’s highest res (from memory, something like 1600x1200 'ish) so a zoomed out iPad sim shows as about a 3rd of the screen real estate. [import]uid: 8271 topic_id: 7169 reply_id: 36057[/import]
