Simulator stopped refreshing

My simulator (all build revisions) has stopped responding to code file updates. It was fine until yesterday and now it simply won’t auto-refresh when I save a change. Yes, I have checked the option in preferences to set the refresh to auto. This has happened before but always went away - I could never figure out why it started or stopped.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

For clarity:

Mid-2010 Mac with Yosemite 10.10.5, 500GB HD, 8GB, 2.66Ghz Core i7

Are you saving to a network drive?

Nope. Everything is on my regular, internal HD. I do everything in my dropbox folder but that has been working fine for years. Same thing even if I don’t, anyway. It’s like Corona sim just stopped listening for file changes.

It looks like I have essentially the same config as you, @horacebury, and I haven’t seen a problem. It sounds like you are experiencing this, regardless of Sim version. Is that correct?

Yes, and it doesn’t seem to matter which code I run. However, on a different Mac, the problem has not occurred.

The reason I asked about network drives and I’ve seen Dropbox folders do this too, is it seems that for these drives, its like whatever the simulator is looking for to detect updated files isn’t getting updated by the OS any more. Now for network drives, it could be an issue with waiting on the drive to finish syncing before it updates whatever we’re looking for. Try it with files on your local space, not a Dropbox managed folder.

It does seem to be successful for other folders, even those within the DropBox hierarchy. What I don’t get is why it spuriously starts happening with one particular folder. Maybe I should just give the system a kick and move it.

Anything different about that folder? And Icon on it? Any odd permissions/attributes?

Rob

Hey, I had this problem before… ( The simulator stopped refreshing and then my files stopped opening and then i couldn’t retrieve my code ) So id recommend you backup your files or make new ones and relocate the code and restart your pc or mac and try again…

Good Luck!

I use Dropbox to continuously back up, but I agree with your sentiment.

None at all. It hasn’t changed in the time the problem started. I’ll let you know if I figure any key differences out. It doesn’t appear to have caused any other issues either and I’ve checked the drive for errors etc.
