Simulator will not auto-launch on main.lua file change anymore

Hi All,
An interesting quirk just showed up yesterday on my Mac.
Prior to yesterday I would edit my main.lua file in BBEdit, save it and the Corona simulator would re-launch. I have that option checked in the simulator preferences btw.
Now that option no longer works in my main project.
I did create a test folder and edited a new main.lua and that does relaunch the process so the simulator is not broken.
It suggests that there must be a preference file somewhere that got got corrupted.
Does anyone know how to correct this behavior?

I did run across an earlier post in the forums that was somewhat similar where Carlos suggested that the person find the Library/preferences folder and delete 3 files that start with com.anscamobile. He did say you would have to re-enter your credentials however and I am not sure what credentials he was referring to?

Thanks for any help.

Hey Dennis,

That post from Carlos was discussing deauthorizing and reauthorizing, so credentials mean login details. (Email+password.)

Out of interest if you duplicate your project does the dupe then work, or still no?

Can run you through deauth stuff if you like, let me know.

Hi Peach,
I tried the experiment you suggested this morning and moved all my files to another differently named folder but alas I get the same behavior. It’s really strange since all my other apps, mainly test applications do an auto-relaunch of the simulator when I change any file those directories.
So I think my next step is to delete those Corona config files.
A quick run-through of de-auth and auth would be great!
Thanks Peach. [import]uid: 108253 topic_id: 21778 reply_id: 86686[/import]

Please post up if you find a solution, I’m having the same problem. [import]uid: 21331 topic_id: 21778 reply_id: 86743[/import]

Run through;

  1. Deauth and quit Corona

  2. Go to users/library/preferences and delete the files there that start with com.anscamobile (I believe there can be up to 3 of them.)

NOTE: If you are on Lion you will get here by clicking “Go” in the top menu from desktop, then press OPTION - Library will appear there.

  1. Relaunch Corona and authorize again

Let me know how you go

Well I went through the drill and unfortunately it didn’t fix the problem. Phooey!
Still no auto-relaunch. And I checked the preferences to make sure they specified auto-relaunch.
Naturally my test apps still relaunch the simulator. How strange.

Oh I should mention that there are 6 files in the preferences folder instead of 3. I deleted them all and they were recreated.

Hrm. I’ll bring this up in our next meeting and see if we have any info on it I’m not yet aware of. (I haven’t encountered this exact issue before.)

What OSX and what Corona build are you using? [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 21778 reply_id: 86982[/import]

Well this problem finally righted itself and although I cannot say EXACTLY what fixed it I have some clues.
When I (along with many others) decided to “upgrade” to XCode 4.3 (read my travails and many others in the Device Builds Forums) I went into a day of upgrading, downgrading and basically breaking everything in sight. I finally was able to get “back” to a working state with XCode 4.2.1 and also using Application loader 2.5.1.
I then “noticed” that my simulator was auto-launching again when I edited my main.lua file.
Somehow in the process of uninstalling and reinstalling everything several times it “fixed” the problem.
So now I am a happy camper again at least until I am forced to upgrade to the latest version of XCode.
Thanks all for your help.

Thanks for updating - a very odd issue but am happy to hear that it is currently resolved.
