I’ve looked over their site and Facebook today.
It’s not obvious what their business model is, since the app itself is free.
From the comments on the Facebook page, my guess (and it is a guess: so take all of this with a pinch of salt)
Sketch Book actually compile and upload the apps themselves.
-(‘People keep asking when is my game going out’)
-(someone asks why ‘their app’ has no screen shots)
-(sks explain ‘some apps need tweaking’)
In a way, that makes sense : because then hundreds of people don’t need to set up accounts with Apple directly.
So that leads me to think that SKS and the ‘developer’ split the proceeds.
Like Apple and the App Store, it won’t matter to SKS if an individual game sells a small number then dies, because they will have had a cut, and there will be more along in a minute.
But if that is the case, there won’t be much a ‘developer’ can do about ‘their’ app apart from watch and wait.
Given the cookie cutter game generation method, I would expect these games to be very simple affairs which are unlikely to have any longevity in the market.
They will exist to be downloaded, generating a few cents each, then probably discarded after a couple of plays.
Thats still quite a good model for SKS if true,
Not so much for the ‘developer’,( but weigh against that their financial and creative involvement)
I may be wide of the mark: read the Facebook posts and draw your own conclusions is the best advice.
