Sluggish transitions in Xcode simulator (iPad Retina)

How reliable is the Xcode simulator when testing transition performance for the new iPad?

I’m using build 769 and I have several transitions in my app that are very sluggish when using the iPad Retina mode.
iPhone, iPhone Retina and iPad mode are perfectly OK in the simulator. It’s only iPad Retina mode that has performance problems with my transitions.

Can I trust the simulator?
