solar2d Console is NOT Showing

Hi. I’m having trouble with my solar2d.3626 because the console is not showing. I tried some of the tips in this discussion but still it doesn’t work, still no console.

But when I run the console from here: ‘C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Corona\Corona Console’, event viewer will show this in application details:

I’m using HP laptop, Microsoft Windows 10 Home Single Language operating system

Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.1556)

64-bit OS,

with solar2d.3626

I have this issue for a long time, that is why it made me think of having an alternative “console program”. Is there an alternative to solar2d console?

Can I have some solutions, or ideas on how to fix it? Or how to have an alternative “console”? THANK YOU.

After experiencing this issue myself on a few laptops and taking all the information provided from the other post, I can also confirm issue is resolved by updating VS Redistributable x86 which you can grab from here:

From my observation, Solar2D Console works fine with latest version of VC Redist 14.30.30708 and also 14.28.29334. One laptop I just fixed was using version 14.0.24210 which had the issue although it did work initially so not sure what happened.

Thank you, Siu. VC_redist.x64, VC_redist.x86 or VC_redist.arm64? Is it ok to install all of it?

These packages are x86 for 32bit applications, and x64 for 64bit applications, both created with Visual Studio 2015-2022.

You only need vc_redist.x86.exe since Solar2D is built with VS 2015 (I think). :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, Siu. I’m writing this so that others with the same issue will see it. I have installed the vc_redist.x86.exe, and now finally the console is along with the simulator. Thank you very much for your help.

Awesome, thanks for confirming! :+1:
