Sound continues after turning off device? (different to IOS?)

I’ve just noticed, now testing against Android with a Nexus 7, that when I push the power button to “turn off” (put to sleep - not sure what the correct term is), that my game’s background music keeps playing.  I haven’t noticed this on IOS.

Q - So on Android do you have to specifically detect for “applicationSuspend” and pause the background music do you?

I’m current doing an applicationSuspend & pausing the game, but not the background music as it seems to stop automatically on IOS if I push the power button to put the iPhone to sleep.

PS - Or perhaps should one leave the music run on Android as that what Android users are expecting?

I don’t have this problem and I primarily test on a rooted, ROMed Nexus 4. Putting the device to sleep stops everything.

interesting - I’ve just tested again and this time it did turn off - I’m new to Android really with this new Nexus 7 but it really was continuing to play the music when I tested it a couple of times before I posted this…   seems like my app might be fine the way it is then but the new Nexus 7 is behaving a bit funny sometimes…(ok, or perhaps it’s the user)

spent an hour trying to get debug to adb working last night until I googled it and found out about navigating to the build number (or whatever it was) and pushing this button 7 times in a row to turn on developer mode  :)
