Hey,
I was wondering where could I buy or contact someone to make sounds effects for my game (for jumping, hitting objects, etc.).
I found some sites that deliver free sound effects or sell them into packs, but not any where I could order the custom sounds that I might need.
Any tips?
P.S.: For background music I managed to find some people who do that, but links to this kind of resources are very welcomed too.

There are a ton of free SFX on the internet. You can also find SFX CD’s in the various CD stores too.

soundrangers.com has a vast amount of SFX, and you can buy an online “pass card” which allows you to buy sounds on a per-item basis no matter what the bit rate, length, etc… i.e. you buy a pass for 50 sounds and use it over time, only for the sounds you want, not “packs” which might contain a bunch of sounds you don’t want.
Reasonable rates, huge selection, royalty-free… very nice site IMHO.

Yep all the above are great options but…
Unless you contract out and get exclusivity, then the sounds you have won’t stand out as much.
I do all my own music, sounds etc but I also have my own studio and have a lengthy background in music production (worked for a few studios here and there, I’m always in stealth mode). There are sites you can go to that you can get exclusives to, but you will pay a premium for it. Other sites like supasounds.com have a top 25 rule. Which means that if your app gets into the top 25 on app store, they will stop selling that sound track. That helps out, but keep in mind most of the music on there for that is around $100 PER song and you don’t get exclusivity.
I’m working with a couple people right now doing sound work. There seems to be quite a few people hidden out there who do work for people for sounds. I guess it’s how much you want a sound/music that everyone can get, or if you want exclusivity to a track or sound.
Also make friends with people, you will run across people who will help you out. I mean truly be interested in someone else’s projects or whatever not just because you want something. Lately, I’ve been engaged with a variety of people discussing various projects and what not so Im excited about it!
