So in my OCD-like pursuit of tracking how my newest game is doing, I discovered that an .ipa for SpacePenguin is now floating around the net. I’m trying to see the bright side in this (“Hey my game was popular enough to be cracked!”), but, mostly, I just feel used.
Thanks aaron. That would be nice, although I don’t have much faith in the article’s stance. Did piracy bump sales, or did increased sales bump piracy? It seems like a case of correlation not equaling causality.
Anyway, if I see a big bump in sales (can’t go anywhere but up at this point), I’ll be sure to let you all know.
I’m putting together an update this weekend to improve the OpenFeint log in (it defaults to the OF dashboard rather than my game menu for some reason), and fix some other minor bugs, but let me know if you notice anything else that need fixin’.
That sucks, Andy. I’ve got almost twice as many users in OpenFeint as I do reported downloads. It is strangely validating though, no?
On a bright note, something must have happened recently with iAds on iPad. I’ve seen a definite spike in revenue this past week. My gut tells me that in this era of piracy, ads are the way to make money, not paid apps.
I’m going to start porting my other apps (Tribbs, and Pico Firme Bago) to Corona so I can more easily implement GameCenter/OpenFeint and iAds.
