Sprite Controls

Is their a tutorial (with working sample code) of a sprite with controls? IE Move a sprite left/right/jump. Searched for a while and couldn’t find anything. [import]uid: 72845 topic_id: 36205 reply_id: 336205[/import]

That’s one of the resources I looked at and used for my first sprite creation. Seems that some of the posts have changed since then, like http://www.coronalabs.com/blog/2012/10/02/animated-sprites-and-methods seems to be an updated version of what I was using before. Was just wondering if anyone had made a tutorial on controlling a sprite with the updated sprite build. Looked all over and one doesn’t seem to exist.

Appreciate the feedback though,

Hi FL,
The tutorial you mention, http://www.coronalabs.com/blog/2012/10/02/animated-sprites-and-methods, should address all “basic” sprite control methods. Is there something more advanced you’re trying to do?

Also, “learningcorona” is basically a dead site, and you should check here for a great replacement of it:

Think I might bite the bullet and buy the mario style template off that one site. Really wish their was a free tutorial on that style of game. Angry birds is great and all but you cant beat the classics. [import]uid: 72845 topic_id: 36205 reply_id: 143870[/import]

Wrote this really fast for you so it’s a little messy. But it shows how movement and sprites work. It’s not really mario style as in there’s no jump or collision involved. Just movement and sprite for walking… Hope it’s not too crappy and you get something out of it. [import]uid: 77199 topic_id: 36205 reply_id: 143872[/import]
