Sprite resources

Hi

I was hoping to find  some good resources / libraries  to download pre-made sprites or image sheets? Otherwise I am going to have to try to make my own sprites, and I am no graphic artist so if this is the case  can someone recommend the best software for making sprites? Thank you

Hi Andrew,

I learned how to do sprites last week with this tutorial and adobe Illustrator:

If you don’t know Illustrator, I recommand you to watch this tutorial too:

Good luck

I can relate. I’m a programmer, not a graphic designer (for the most part, at least). Anyways, the first place you might want to check out is OpenGameArt. You can find a lot of game resources there including soundtracks, sprites, sound effects, 3d models, etc. Plus, it’s all free.

You can also look here:

Then again, the best thing you can do if you are making games is either get good at making graphics (using something like Gimp or Inkscape), or having a friend who is good at graphics join your team.

openclipart.org

I find drawing things in 3D easier, I think it’s because  you can copy things directly and don’t have to think about shading and things like that.

The other thing is to write games in a retro style, or choose game styles which do not need complex graphics.

As tryrotech says, there are plenty of people who can draw but can’t code

Thank you so much, very helpful feedback
