Started using corona 3 weeks ago and released my first app today

Well I looked at corona a few months ago and decided I wasn’t going to use it, but I’m kicking myself now. I revisited corona and decided to give it a try. I wrote my first game over the last 3 weeks and was released today. It’s already flying through the charts and I’m currently ranked on google plays trending list.

Here is the app for those who want to see it.

I just wanted to share my story to hopefully give some motivation to those who may be wondering if corona is right for you. I can’t believe I ever wrote apps in native code. My app takes advantage of scrollview, webpopup, facebook integration, splashscreen, in-app purchases and a bunch more.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your success story. This is most encouraging.

WOW! Congrats! I knew dev with Corona was fast but 3 weeks! How did you achieved that? Graphics, social integration, store?

Can you talked more your experience and your were able to achieve so much with so little time!

Thanks and good luck with the game.

I think if I didn’t have to learn LUA I would have completed it in less time. I’m also 3/4 of the way through 2 other physics based games that I started 3 weeks ago as well.

I purchased some of the graphics, but most of them I created myself. Everything else was made super easy by corona. I did run into some issues that were quickly resolved thanks for the support on the forums.

Here is one of my other games I’m working on. The goal is to blowup the pieces and get all the items below the line in as few explosions as possible. I have 31 levels built so far going to release it with 75 I think

I would say this isn’t too bad for the first 24 hours

How did you develop all of your other games?  Native?

Thanks for the info! That’s very impressive indeed

Just watched the video, looks fantastic for 3 weeks work.

I reckon I could easily get a basic game a month out, if I had someone doing graphics for me.

Yeah all my other apps are written using native code. I now see the error of my ways.

For those that are following along I’m now ranked on the first page of Googles trending list

https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/movers_shakers?start=0&num=24

I’m also ranked on the 2nd page for the keyword I’m after which is: slot machine

Corona analytics are showing 7500 installs but I think it will be well over 10k  today. Revmob is less then impressive, I can’t wait to get admob ads into the app. Not too bad for 1½ days on the market though!
