Strange Kindle Issue [SOLVED]

I’ve received a few messages from Kindle users starting over the weekend complaining that:

  • The daily games aren’t showing up for them.
  • They can’t watch an ad for a free hint.
  • When they finish a puzzle, it gives them the same puzzle over again.

At first I thought it was an internet connection issue, but not being able to make progress in the game sounds more like a problem with write permissions- their player data file wasn’t getting saved when they finished a level.

Of course, everything works fine on my test device. Does this kind of problem ring any bells for anyone?

Turns out Kindles are also now blocking cleartext, so changing all my http:// calls to https:// fixed the main issues. Some players are still having problems with ads that are showing at error page instead of an advertisement, but that sounds like a problem on the ad vendor’s side, so I don’t know how I can fix that.
