strategies for users bypassing ads by turning off connectivity?

Hi All,

I’ve just started using the Appodeal monetization plugin. I like how easy it was to setup and how well it works when there is good connectivity. It seems though in my testing when there is no connectivity there are simply no ads displayed. This makes sense, I’m just wondering what strategies others have employed to make sure us developers get paid for all our hard work?

A few ideas I had were creating my own in-house ads. Forcing the user to wait through a timer. Or simply denying the user access to the game when there is no connectivity. I’d love to hear other perspectives.

Regards!

Showing house ads when you detect there isn’t a network connect is a pretty popular solution to this.

Thanks @rob – that is helpful. In your experience are house ads set up through the provider, (like admob) or do developers typically just create their own and embed them when the network is down?

Since I don’t have a lot of other apps in the store to promote, are there any exchanges you know of here in the Corona forums where maybe a handful of app developers exchange links to their Corona based games? Meaning I could serve up house ads for half a dozen or so games others have developed when there is no network and they in turn can do the same for me?

Just curious.

If there are no ads cached then just continue with your game - simples.

Funnily enough a few of us having been discussing such a scheme.

I would love that scheme. Not only for when there is no internet but also when the price is so low it is not worth showing a paid ad. I rather give the impression to somebody here than giving it to some random “your phone might be infected” app for 0.02 ecpm.
