Stuttering visuals

I’ve posted some responses in older threads that described a similar problem to what we have been seeing, but have received no response. I also sent in a bug report, but never heard anything past the automated response and can not find the bug (#8950 according to the e-mail I received) in the FogBugz directory.

We have noticed a stutter, mainly seen when moving objects across the screen. The problem is worse when the config.lua specifies a 60 FPS speed.
Apparently, according to the other posts, this problem exists a while ago, and then it was fixed. However, also according to the other posts, people have been seeing this same problem again.

I created a really short example, if you’d like to see the problem in action.
We have noticed the problem on Mac, Windows, Android devices, and iPhone devices.

I would like to know if this is being worked on.
Also, if anyone knows, was this problem really fixed in the past, or is this a case of a legacy bug reappearing?

I’ve tested on my iMac 27" running Lion 10.7.2, compiled with 2011.652 and can see the stuttering in the simulator.

However I failed to see any stuttering on the actual devices.

I’ve tested on these devices:
iPod Touch 2nd gen (iOS 3.1.3)
iPod Touch 4th gen (iOS 4.3.5)
iPad2 (iOS 5.0)

I was expecting to see stuttering on the 2nd gen iPod which is quite slow, but is churned away quite happily for the 5 minutes I let it run the app…

Thanks for taking a look. We first noticed it while working on our game (a much less trivial example).
I put together that sample, saw the stutter in the simulator, assuming it was going to happen on device as well.
I am now wondering if perhaps we are just seeing lag from our game on the iOS devices, as I also do not see the stuttering when the small example is placed on the device.
What is the possibility that this stutter could happen on iOS devices, but only in more complex situations? (IE. more objects being rendered to screen, etc.)

I still do see the example code stuttering on Android devices as well. The one post I linked to mentioned that the problem had been fixed on iOS v3+, but was it ever addressed on the Android? [import]uid: 75926 topic_id: 17165 reply_id: 64696[/import]
