Suggestion: A monthly subscriber rate

It might be a good idea to offer monthly subscriber rates in conjunction with annual subscriptions.

Like, Pro for $75 a month and Enterprise for individuals for $125.

That’d be great. An annual sign up would be cheaper, but this way Corona Pro would be like an extra tank of gas or two a month, instead of buying a new Ipad every year.

I’ll still do annual, but I think Corona ought to offer it.

Hey marble - thanks for the feedback. We are toying with this idea…

If anyone else things this would be a good thing to do, please email me (david@coronalabs) or post here. Curious to hear about the interest…

Hi there,

I’m really wondering why there is so little general interest in a monthly payment rate. I’m not able to afford an annual subscription of Pro for example but would probably be willing to pay a monthly rate. I’m sure a LOT more people would go Pro or Enterprise with a monthly payment instead of paying a large amount of money upfront for a whole year.

C’mon people - let us know: Who would buy a monthly subscription if it existed?!

thanks

Marco

To publish my app on WP8 would be very intereting for me. If that would be possible with a monthly payment rate i would buy it for sure.

+1. This would reduce the barrier to entry

+1 to this. Paying all that money up front to access features that I need for my app without any assurance that I will recuperate that cost is a little daunting. As an indie developer I understand there are costs to doing business but the more I can reduce that cost the better!

I will add my 2 cents and say that a monthly option would be nice.

I always assumed that this option was not offered because it would be easy to abuse. Pay for a few months, publish your app, then cancel your monthly subscription. When you need to update your app, renew for a month, then cancel again.

I think this could easily be prohibited by a “yearly contract” (but still monthly payment rates…)  - like a typical mobile phone contract (in Germany at least usually valid for two years). So a model could be: You are obliged to pay your monthly rates for a year at least. Still much better (for me at least) than paying the whole amount at once.

Marco,

I wouldn’t say this is easy. How is a US based company suppose to enforce this contract all over the world?

With the phone company, if you don’t pay, they cut off your service. With corona, if you don’t pay, they stop you from doing a build. But what if you don’t need to do a build for a few months?

Easily. Photoshop does the same thing. If you want to cancel your plan with them, you have to pay 50% of the remaining subscription term (the total amount you have left to pay in the 12 months / 2) to buy yourself out. It’s a fair compromise.

There should be an option for monthly or  even 3 X monthly subscriptions because some people simply cannot afford the annual outlay if they might want to test the water for 3 or 6 months. Add to that the cost of professional design software and tools - Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash Pro, Spine Pro and having to buy a MAC for PC devs etc - it all soon adds up and for a small indie starting out with no guarantee of ROI, i cannot see why Fusepowered can’t make this change in 2015.
I would also like to add that at a time when many people are moving over to Unity because of it’s FREE license and 2D feature set, i would say Coronalabs should do this now rather than later.

Hey @MisterK!

I have my Pro subscription on hold and if you are interested, I can get it transferred to you. I have 5 months left and the normal cost is $49/month but I would charge only $179 for 5 months (That falls to be $35.8). If you are interested, I would need your username and email for the corona support staff to transfer it to you.

Let me know! (You can send me a private message)

Thank you
