Suggestions For Teaching Corona Sdk In Last Session Of My Scripting Class?

Hi,

I teach game design and scripting both with Game Maker and GML as it’s scripting language and in last session of the scripting class I want to introduce my students to Corona and Lua.

Since they know basics of scripting like variables, functions, etc, I want to achieve two things:

  1. Easiest way to teach/introduce them to Lua without going into difficult situations

  2. Same thing for Corona.

What outline would you recommend on doing so? I was thinking of making a basic game together but thought asking you guys what you might have in mind.

Thanks.

Hi,

I started out with the “Game Dev Crash Course” tutorial from Mastering Corona SDK,  students had to sign up -  but its free.

http://masteringcoronasdk.com/

They seemed to enjoy it and it gave them a good intro…

I also used -

Basic Tetris game - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ee261iYTaI

Side scroller game - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GtUxdSeWzk&feature=youtu.be

My space invaders game - https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=x-D7b1TKJjg&list=PL2zG6R7mENQf9NIInCPquC7hQFkH_IqMy

Hope this helps,

Craig

PS I know that this is the wrong forum, but if you have any game maker resources I would be interested…  Going to be teaching that to year 11s next term…
