SWFSheet by Keith Peters - export PNG from SWF

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know about a new tool that Keith Peters (bit-101 of Flash fame) has produced: SWFSheet, an Adobe AIR app for generating sprite sheets and PNG sequences from SWF files.

You can grab it here: http://www.bit-101.com/blog/?p=2948

I’ve posted on my blog more detail about using SWFSheet with Corona: http://www.ludicroussoftware.com/corona/using-swfsheet-with-corona/
Thanks,

Thanks for the link! I happen to be converting graphics from Flash into Sprite Sheets so potentially this will be useful, although it’d have to be pretty good to work better than my current process of exporting PNGs from Flash to reshuffle using Texture Packer. from your blog:
“If you want to use some pretty particle effects library in ActionScript to create your explosion animation, then getting that from Flash into Corona is a bit of a headache.”

I hadn’t thought about this use-case, that does sound helpful. [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 5021 reply_id: 16615[/import]

Yup! I agree that if your animation can be easily exported as a png sequence directly out of Flash, then taking the fla->swf->SWFSheet route has unnecessary steps, but being able to pull a png sequence out of a compiled swf opens up a whole range of possibilities!
