Text box in simulator & future plans for Corona

To corona staff:

I can’t stress how much I need Text box to work in simulator on Mac. Having to build my app after one small code edit, delete my app from iPhone and then copy it to iTunes and then sync with my iPhone - is extremely annoying and time consuming process.

I was waiting for multiline text for a month now, and now when it’s finally here I can’t use it on the simulator. I wonder if I was I expecting too much when I thought it should be available in the simulator?

I’m sure you realize that one of Corona’s best advantages over using xcode is simplicity of coding. Not having ability to test actual code inside the simulator goes against your best advantage. I’m starting to think it would be easier to learn to code in xcode than wait for Corona updates that are half-way done… Don’t get me wrong, I understand you have a lot of work to do and that Corona will never have the full functionallity like working via xcode will. Corona has my attention because of its simplicity. You screw that up with multiline text not able to run in simulator. In my opinion you have to find a good proportion of functionality and simplicity.
It makes sense not to spend too much effort to make Alerts being available in simulator, but a texfield, which is a design element, should in my opinion be available in simulator.
Enough advice giving from me… I’m sure you have a plan for your future actions. I only hope you would share it more with your clients so we can decide for ourselves if we want to be together on this ride with you. I would hate to find out what your plans are in 6 months from now only to find out I could have been learning xcode instead of expecting something that isn’t going to happen. I’m sure you don’t want that either. So, help us both.

Please answer these 2 questions for me:
Can you (and if, when?) please enable multiline text in simulator?
Can you (and if, when?) please post some kind of future plan (what do you plan to do and when). The future plan is very helpful for all of us. If you don’t have a concrete plan say so please. I don’t mean it as a malevolent threat but as an honest opinion to help both - you and me - do better.

Be well,

Just FYI, you don’t have to delete the old app when you install the new one. Building with Corona is still a million times faster than XCode. [import]uid: 4702 topic_id: 508 reply_id: 1010[/import]

Thanks for your comment dwallin33. I know I don’t have to delete the old app, I just want to make sure it isn’t cached so I delete it first (like suggested in corona’s manual). I am not denying the fact that Corona has advantages over using xcode. It sure does!

What I am wondering about is measure between functionality & simplicity of those two (xcode & corona). And this is something which is based on individual-user basis (what works for me might not work for you, and vice versa). That is why I asked two concrete questions and addressed them to Corona staff.

I wonder if there would be an easy and quick way to run Corona apps in the ‘real’ iphone simulator, rather than Ansca’s simulator. It would save them from having to implement everything in their own simulator. [import]uid: 4702 topic_id: 508 reply_id: 1012[/import]

Just tried to use the twitter sample app and was pretty bummed to see it not working in the sim. This would be a wonderful feature to add. [import]uid: 4756 topic_id: 508 reply_id: 1245[/import]

Yes please include all features in simulator for future versions of Corona. AGRW [import]uid: 3867 topic_id: 508 reply_id: 1250[/import]
