Text Candy: Vector Font char spacing seems odd

So I just bought text candy the other day so I haven’t had much time to mess around with it but when using true type fonts it seems to me that the spacing between the characters just seems a little off to me, like there is way more spacing between certain characters than others.

I have tried it with a couple different fonts, just wondering if anyone else has this problem or if it is a problem with the way I’m implementing the fonts or text candy.

Thanks!

Text Candy determines the width of each char automatically, as returned by Corona, except the width of the space char, which is estimated only. Are you talking about the spacing between each char or just the space char (spacing between words)?

Yea I mean the spacing between each char. Some characters are grouped close together and some char have more space between them than others. I just found in another post that this might have something to do with the way Corona returns the width of the characters? I can include a screenshot a little bit later on tonight when I get back home if that would help.

I think I will end up creating my own charset anyways (as it seems a little bit more efficient anyways) but was looking for an easy way to display regular looking fonts with text candy.

Thanks for the response!

Was this resolved?

I am seeing the same thing.
Using the latest Text Candy

@CurvedLight

You will need an official response from x-pressive.com but as far as I know it never was and I decided to not use Text Candy in my current application because of this issue.

Thanks,

Clark - thanks for the response .

I played around with this last night and found that if I REMOVED the drop shadow effect things looked much better. In fact I was happy with the results and as a result will still use Text Candy in my game.

again thanks for responding
