Thank you and farewell, Carlos!

Wow, this thread is going berzerk.

I think what I am gathering now is a lack of transition I suppose. Jay brings up some good points, and there are a lot of points I just read.

Carlos was always on top of things, his style was he communicated a lot, and was always throwing things out there, like sneak peaks to the Corona level editor (which btw, people keep saying its winter 2012? Where the heck does this information come from??) and other tidbits of things. It was a very communicative style.

Now I know that Walter took over as Ceo about a year ago (from what I am reading, I hope that is relevant and current news and not something I read that’s old if it is >>SLAP ME<
Maybe it’s a different “style” Carlos could be the most outgoing person, but then maybe Walter isn’t like that. I don’t know, it’s the rumor mill around here! Maybe we are in store for a different style and we have to to get used to it.

Maybe there are space monkeys dressed in pink coats with neon hats. That’s up for debate I guess

I’ll wait to get more word from Ansca on this thing before I go jumping in and putting my foot in my mouth (aka, reading Carlos was going back to Adobe and I flipped out…turned out to be a OLD post haha…shame on me!).

WORRYING does not take away tomorrow’s TROUBLES, it takes away today’s PEACE.
Let’s get back to developing apps with Corona. [import]uid: 104259 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101355[/import]

From a viewpoint inside Ansca, things are fine. We all miss Carlos and wish him well but life goes on. Carlos was the face and voice of Ansca but there are still others within Ansca that care and will carry on Carlos’ mission of supporting and helping the Corona Community.

As Walter mentioned in blog post last week, we are implementing a 2 week cycle of fixing bugs and adding features. This is a direct result of listening to you, the Corona community. Everything will continue as it has in the past and we are still listening to the community and improving Corona.

Thank you for all your comments and thank you for caring.

I’ve been reading every post in this topic as I’m sure most here have been and although change can be scary it can also be good. and who knows why don’t we encourage and challenge Walter and David to be as visible as Carlos was. besides if we as developers don’t keep going as strong and supporting of corona as we have been then it may be doomed not by Ansca but by us as developers. one can not be without the other. so instead of all the speculations why don’t we see where Ansca takes us and we show them that we believe in them.
now with all that said I reached out to Carlos personally and we talked for about an hour. I let him know how strongly he would be missed by all of us and he said thanks for all the kind words everyone has been posting. [import]uid: 7911 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101370[/import]

When I first read that blog post I thought it was some kind April Fools joke and then I realized April Fools was already over and then I got this sick sort of feeling in my stomach like my favorite development platform just lost it’s best friend. Even before this, I know I had written a comment or two about how incredibly impressed I was that a CEO took so much time to be so involved with the community. You couldn’t really think of Corona without thinking of Carlos. A lot of people say they care, words are cheap, but Carlos showed it here all the time! Best wishes to you Carlos, you are a rare soul in the world of business! Thanks for this awesome platform. [import]uid: 8139 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101418[/import]

I hope that Carlos finds happiness in whatever road he takes after this. And I also hope that Ansca Mobile finds someone who was as dedicated to helping us developers as Carlos was. He scoured the forums every day and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Goodbye and good luck Carlos!

You will be greatly missed. From the moment you met us Carlos, you were so open and friendly, willing to help us build a business for ourselves, when we really had no clue what we were doing. We are eternally grateful for all your guidance and support. We couldn’t really have gotten as far as we have without your help.

Please keep in touch and good luck with everything.

Cheers,

Thank you Carlos for the wonderful platform. Wish you all the best for your future. [import]uid: 134566 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101505[/import]

Yes a huge thanks to you Carlos! Being the face & voice of Corona, Corona has changed my business and in turn my life, which I am truly thankful for! Best wishes with everything you do. [import]uid: 59172 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101508[/import]

We tried Xcode, we developed in Adobe Air for mobile, we found Corona.

And we like it! Of course, sometimes we hate it, too - but only till the moment when we tackled the problem.

In short:

Thank you Ansca, for developing Corona and improving it day by day. And as visible as Carlos was, the most important answers in the dev forums came from jB, Danny, Peach and the rest…

So, yes, we’ll miss Carlos - but we’re very excited about the future, the transparent roadmap, votings for features and the most important developement/bugfix cycle.

Carlos, we wish you all the best! And for the rest of the Ansca team:
Stay on board, we’ll promise to provide you with lots of comprehensible test cases for daily build bug fixes.

Carlos,

So sorry to hear you are leaving Corona SDK. Truth be told, we tried 2 other platforms before settling on Corona for our future iOS applications and games. This was in a large part to the well thought out SDK, as well as blog and forum posts that you had written. We were impressed on the foundation that you had laid for us developers.

Good luck and let us know where you will be landing… maybe we will follow you

Carlos, when I’ve read the email about Corona team update last week I could not believe that you left Corona. I was very shocked!

Thanks for everything you have done for us Carlos.
Best wishes to you and good luck for the future.

We will miss you.

With Carlos leaving and a mention of ‘A’ causing instant ban and subscription cancellations (is that legal), we will be left with just c ORON a, Carlos you will be missed, you were the face of Ansca and will be missed.

However there are a few questions, what is in store? If we ask the question is everything ok, I do not think that any sensible organisation would respond with “OMG we are shitting bricks” so everything will be fine, but I guess it will be time that will help us calm and have that confidence back.

I mean why would Mark Zuckerberg leave Facebook? He is the face of Facebook (pardon the pun). [import]uid: 141131 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101976[/import]

Lol. Don’t worry man, Everybody shits a little brick now and then… [import]uid: 10211 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101980[/import]
