Thank you and farewell, Carlos!

Thanks for starting Corona, Carlos! I hope you know how many lives (including mine) you’ve changed by starting Corona. We’ll miss you and we wish you the best in whatever you’re doing next!

Well, from past experience with events of this type, I can say that a profitable position such as the one Carlos held, is not vacated without good reasons. I’m guessing that there was a high level difference of opinion about how to lead the company or Carlos lost confidence in what he was advocating. Either way, I hope that Ansca comes out and offers a more positive outlook than the speculation flying around in this thread.

Carlos,- if you get to read this, all the best in whatever you keeps you busy next. [import]uid: 67363 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101163[/import]

Everyone - I wanted to get out a quick response to some of the posts in this thread.

But first, thank you to all of you that posted thanking and wishing good luck to Carlos. He was a huge part of this company for the last several years and he set the tone for many things, including the great developer community we have (as seen by all the responses). We are sad to see him go.

Now, I’d like to briefly address the worries some of you have expressed. Rest assured that the company is not going anywhere. In fact, as Carlos said in the blog post, the company is as strong as it has ever been (including doing record sales in March). Our pipeline is full of great things that will come over the next few months and, as Walter wrote a few days ago, we are in the middle of re-organizing our engineering processes to make sure we can keep on serving our great developers at a growing scale. Our focus on giving mobile developers the best mobile platform is absolutely unchanged.

Regarding management - Walter has been the CEO of the company for well over a year. So absolutely nothing has changed there. The company still has the same direction.

Finally, regarding messaging. We wanted to have Carlos’ post up for the weekend and let people post their thoughts. Out of respect, we didn’t want to post a “moving on” message until we at least let people comment for the weekend. Walter had already planned on writing a message addressing this on Monday, so that will be coming very soon.

Thanks again to everyone that wrote.

David, thank you so much for addressing our concerns. Also great to hear about the record sales in March  [import]uid: 9158 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101190[/import]

Thanks for the reply, David. I’ll be looking forward to Walter’s update, too. [import]uid: 135391 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101196[/import]

@David - THANK YOU VERY MUCH for such reply addressing our concerns.

It is hard to be “imagining”/thinking that the company Ive started to love would be by some way "spinning down" and by consequence getting us CoronaSDK Developers into the "hole" but as youve explained and also Walter will have a word for us (that`s very welcome anyway), am going to be less “brainstorming” in the subject of this forum.
Thanks one more time.
Gracias por la atención.

Hey Carlos sorry to see you leave, thanks for everything and best of luck to you.

@jay and david. Thank you for your calming replies. [import]uid: 13632 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101219[/import]

Well, there’s obviously a lot of paranoia going around and yes, when the “arguably most visible” member of the (founding) team leaves, there’s going to be a lot of mixed emotions.

I haven’t seen anything yet which shows any weakness anywhere and from the looks of the most recent updates work is progressing strongly - I wish I had the capital right now to push ahead with a full Pro membership!

I hope Carlos is around for a long time to come and, not having met him yet, I hope I have a chance to meet him in person either in connection with Ansca or not.

Good luck Carlos. I have faith that you know what you’re doing and I have faith that Ansca knows where it’s going.

Thank you for all the hard work and opportunities you’ve helped create.

Best of luck Carlos! We will really miss you, hope you will be back at some moment  [import]uid: 44010 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101227[/import]

Carlos, thanks for all you have done for the mobile app development world. I wish you the best in your future endeavours. I am sure success and many of us will follow you wherever you decide to chart your course towards…

To me, Corona with out 'C’arlos will only be ‘orona’ from now on. It’ll never be the same. [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101229[/import]

Maximum good luck and happiness in all your endeavours - may the wombs of all your camels be fruitful.

Very sad to see you go… [import]uid: 6086 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101235[/import]

Best of wishes Carlos. Thanks for re-inventing the way we produce apps now in a fast, much clear way. With Corona my company been more successful than ever thanks to you.

Cheers~~Sebastian [import]uid: 17058 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101244[/import]

Thank you for all your contributions Carlos, best of luck.

I am still working on my first app, but just the fact that I can code and publish prototypes to actual mobile devices in a language I can actually understand is a miracle in itself

Thanks! [import]uid: 44435 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101282[/import]

Thank you Carlos for helping create Corona. If it was not for you and Walter and the rest on the wonderful Corona Developers, I would not have released my first iPhone app last year. I wish you Good Luck in your future ventures.

Thank you for everything,

On the blog a word from Walter : The Corona Ethic. [import]uid: 95346 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101299[/import]

Shocked and sad to see you go. But you leave Anscamobile in good hands. [import]uid: 53814 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101300[/import]

Nick, that tweet was in reply to someone else about a previous job a long time ago. Please read Carlos’ comment  [import]uid: 58493 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101311[/import]

I am more confused now that Walter has posted an update and spoke about the Corona Ethic… mentioned ethic 9 times, no less in his post. Meanwhile Carlos posts on his own site and talks about the need for one to pursue their dreams, their passion and ends on a high note … ‘There is a revolution coming!’

Me being quite bad at reading in between the lines can’t help but wonder what is being said in these messages to the community and how they relate [if at all] to each other.

This thread is all about thanking Carlos for his contributions to our nifty little community so I will try and not derail it further with my comments but needless to say I am very confused and concerned about my current and future investment in Corona. I hope for the best of course and remain cautiously optimistic. [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 24823 reply_id: 101332[/import]

Best of luck Carlos! We appreciate all the hard work and Rick Astley links!

So long and thanks for all the fish!

EDIT** I have removed foot from mouth. What was here isn’t relevant. I realized Carlos would rather be boiled in hot oil, be scrubbed with razor blades, etc etc than work for a company with the letter A.

Wow, I feel DUMB now. lol, Mr C.

I wish Carlos the best, he was the most reachable CEO that I ever knew of, I just hope that Ansca internally is rock solid.
