The Engine Requires OpenGL 2.1?

First of all, hello everyone!

Today I installed the Corona SDK.

When I opened up the simulator, I got this message:

“Minimum OpenGL version required: 2.1. Your machine’s OpenGL version: 2.0.6012 WinXP release”

Apparently, after I re-checked it, the Corona I’ve installed supports minimum OpenGL 2.1.

Actually I’ve seen a page on this site which tells that Corona is available for OpenGL 2.0 onward.

So I wonder if there’s a version of Corona that supports OpenGL 2.0?

I’m using 32-bit WinXP service pack 3 with 3GB RAM.

This requirement came with our change to our Graphics 2.0 engine. These build numbers have numbers greater than 2000, such as the current public build 2731.  Builds with numbers less than 2000 are on graphics 1.0 and will run on older computers. However, I can’t guarantee that our build servers would still produce builds. And other than hand-installing on devices and perhaps the Barnes & Noble store, you can’t deploy anything with a build that old.

Your best bet is to update your drivers for your video card. Also consider that Windows XP is really-really old. Since then we’ve had Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and now WIndows 10. Few people are trying to provide support for that OS any more, while we still do, your other hardware vendors may not. There comes a time when you do need to upgrade your hard drive.
