Well for the record, I totally appreciate your tutorials.

I run a social net site and I have over 5,000 members. In the beginning no one donated cause they thought everyone else was donating. It’s good you posted it. I know the donations are not why you do it, but still it sure helps. [import]uid: 8045 topic_id: 8584 reply_id: 30829[/import]

Thank you - I appreciate that.

I know many wonderful people here do genuinely appreciate them; either because they do donate or because they tell me so. That’s why I put so much time and effort into this stuff.

I wonder if people just assume others donate with Techority too; I don’t know, to be honest. (That’s an impressive sized site, by the way.)

At the end of the day I guess Techority is like the public library I used to go to when I was younger, relying on funding from, in part, donations.

I am by no means money hungry but it does help, you’re right - and ultimately it’s easier to spend hours helping people when I’m not hungry, haha.

Hi Peach,

I am sad to hear that not many people donate stuff for your efforts. But it is the reality. I did ask for donations for the development of IndeED too… just one great soul did it (thanks man). So you are not alone.

If it is really about the money, go commercial.

Hey Mike,

I am SO sorry to hear you only got one donation; that is incredibly unfair. (Admittedly I don’t use IndeED as I’m set in my ways but it looks to be a fantastic utility.)

It isn’t about the money and I don’t want to go commercial, but it’s complicated. Because I get by on my app earnings and donations alone it can be hard to keep things going sometimes.

I don’t want to get rich from doing this, I don’t even want to become upper-lower-class, haha, it’s just that there is no easy way to spend hours upon hours a week on doing something like this with no income.

If I went fully commercial I know I could make more money than I need - but others might miss out on the benefits of access to such great resources.

Basically if I can find a way to make $5 every day or two from Techority, then I could scrape by without having to totally sell out XD

We’ll see what happens - ultimately I want to be able to keep doing this for free but I just need some income to keep it going.

I have several new ideas since yesterday and have gotten a lot of advice - so we’ll see - hopefully I’ll have a better idea of where I am headed in a few days.

Peach

PS - Sorry again to hear about the lack of donations. You really deserve them. [import]uid: 10144 topic_id: 8584 reply_id: 30899[/import]
