Trial user - updating to latest build version

Hello all,

I’ve been using Corona for a while now, still currently trial until my prototype is ready for testing, so i have yet to buy the annual subscription. Long time lurker on this site as well!

Question: i am currently using build 2012.894. I have recently updated my itunes and xcode, and have noticed that corona sdk now has a newer public release build of 971?.. If i want to update this, do i simply download this newer version and replace it (or place it) in the exact same for on my mac? Or do i need to delete my current version before re-downloading again?

Silly newbie question i know! But i just want to confirm before going ahead with this.

Just download it and overwrite the old one. I have never removed the old version before downloading the new version, am also on Mac.

  1. Download new build
  2. Double click the file
  3. Drag the app into applications
  4. When it asks you, overwrite everything
  5. Done! [import]uid: 41884 topic_id: 35304 reply_id: 140331[/import]

@chichungl, you may be doing this right, but just in case… Make sure you do not have your project folder inside the Corona SDK folder. If you do, you could lose your project. (I’ve seen some posts in the past where a super new person losing his/her project this way.)

The best practice is to have your project folder outside Corona SDK.

Thanks for the replies back, appreciate it! Hoping to participate more in these forums now - or at least, ask more questions since I am planning on upgrading soon to the paid license.

And good point Naomi about project directory location!
