Oh that’s generous Carlos. Will make it only 10PM at my end [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18450[/import]
I hope you all like this…
I happened to look at twitter 20 seconds after you posted that - I’m hoping your quirky sense of humour means you have your finger over the “deploy” button… [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18463[/import]
haha!! Downloading the Windows version now before your servers get hammered! Awesome! [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18464[/import]
Carlos, you’re not adding The Beatles to Corona are you?

horacebury wins the award for wittiest comment, I think.
…I am growing more and more impatient XD [import]uid: 10144 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18468[/import]
Peach: The new drop is out on the download page, release notes and docs are all updated. [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18470[/import]
Big deal for me if it works. I spent 90% of my time in Corona Simulator.
I can code exclusively on Windows in simulator with scaled settings and then build to device on Mac when I have to.
The problem so far is that there are a lot of inconsistencies between Android and iPhone support in Corona, so some of the apps I tested just won’t function. [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18474[/import]
I see there’s now a Windows version.
Am I missing something? Surely you still need a Mac to build an Apple app so what’s the big deal about Windows support?
I see masking is in but I would have also liked to see a way of loading an image and being able to specify what the mask colour is in the image.
Boo, no native UI stuff
But thanks for the update [import]uid: 9371 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18472[/import]
What advantages are there to running the sim on win? [import]uid: 9371 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18475[/import]
The only advantages are for people without a mac, because thanks to Ansca they can now get involved in iPhone development too
Great work guys, a new build + a windows version, you guys really are pulling out all the stops. Can’t wait to test universal build + in-app soon

Whaaaaaaa? This is ridiculously early. I’m off to look now, thanks for the info. (At least now when I stay up to some ungodly hour it’s by choice ;)) [import]uid: 10144 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18480[/import]
Already tried the async http, great implementation, thanks Ansca!!! [import]uid: 9158 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18483[/import]

If you alreay have a great Mac setup then probably no advantages. If you already have a great Win setup then plenty of advantages.
Which would you choose?
Windows
Desktop: 2 x 5970 dual core GPU, 8GB RAM, 2x30" LCD + 1x23" multi-touch LCD, SSD drives
Laptop: Alienware mx11, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GPU
or
Desktop: Mac Mini with ethernet/wifi which keeps crapping out
Laptop: Macbook Air 13"
That’s not even going into the software licenses for Photoshop, Cold Fusion etc that already installed for Win, and remote server connections to data centres etc etc.
Corona on Windows at least gives people who have existing hardware and software investments a choice. [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18484[/import]
Well done guys!
many thanks for the new drop!

I think the aim for windows corona dev is so WP7 can be a target, but I’m only browsing this forum on my phone and haven’t seen the soca yet… [import]uid: 8271 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18488[/import]
I have two mini macs and never had any problem with wifi or ethernet. [import]uid: 9371 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18490[/import]
@peach, I know i’m so confused… I worked it out to be not for at least another 8 hours… nevermind tho

Now, now, be nice…
Just run the Windows simulator for the first time! Awesome #WIN!!!
Thank you Carlos and EVERYONE at Ansca - you all are totally amazing!
Take the day off, you deserve it

How does it work with the provisioning profiles etc? Does this mean you don’t need a MAC at all to submit to app store? [import]uid: 9371 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18495[/import]
I have two mini macs and never had any problem with wifi or ethernet.
I’d rather not go down this Mac vs Win route. We have existing infra running on Windows. It would be cheaper and easier if all of our developers can continue to work within that same environment rather than have to spend more money on hardware/software and the hassle of running two systems in parallel. You asked how is it better - that’s the bottom line for us.
Good on Ansca for making the effort - much appreciated.
[EDIT] Toned down my response to be a bit more civilised. [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 5435 reply_id: 18493[/import]
