[TUTORIAL] Creating A Grid Based Game In Corona - Part 1

This is the first tutorial in a new series of tutorials from InfuseDreams.

This is the first part in a series of tutorials that will show you how to create your own grid based game using the Corona SDK.

See the tutorial via my site below:

Creating a grid based game in Corona - Part 1

Let me know what you think of it, it’s been a while since I last wrote a tutorial and I may be rusty.

I have tons more tutorials planned, I am also open to requests on tutorials so if you want me to cover something specific let me know.

NOTE: These tutorials are done in my spare time outside of working hours. So they may be sporadic in terms of dates posted. [import]uid: 84637 topic_id: 34217 reply_id: 334217[/import]

@AlexM2,
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Get your facts straight before accusing people.

Hey AlexM2 - I’m not sure I understand why this is a problem.

We (Corona Labs) have no problem with one of our engineers publishing an app/game - we think that, if anything, it will make them understand our customers better, and that can only be good.
And adding a tutorial that benefits Corona users is also a positive thing.

As for Danny, or anyone else at Corona Labs, having access to our developers’ source code:

  1. If you are referring to us accessing source during builds - that is not possible. The Corona simulator turns your source code into bytecode before sending up to our server, so we never see any of your source (or assets). In addition, we have a very strict policy around this, so we would never do anything with any of the code.

  2. If you are referring to developers sending us source code as part of a support request - that does happen from time to time. Developers, in those cases, are doing so willingly because they want us to help them somehow. We also have a strict policy here, and I can assure you that we do nothing else with that code (which most of the time is just a simplified test case) - we will not share that code nor use for our own purposes. And none of our team members do either.

Finally, Danny, like all of our engineers have been hard at work building features for Corona - which may explain why he has not posted on the forums as often. But that’s ok too since we have other team members who spend more of their time here helping out developers.

So, in conclusion, I have no problem with Danny posting a tutorial here, or with him publishing a game (which looks great!).

If you wish to discuss further, please email me: davidATcoronalabs

Thanks,

David
