Anyone know how games like Dots (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dots-a-game-about-connecting/id632285588?mt=8) gets scores from a user’s twitter and facebook friends? I’m assuming they store game scores on a central server, but would be nice to know for sure…
Forgive me if this isn’t a helpful comment, but I don’t see how they (or any game) could do it without using a cloud storage solution like Parse, Stackmob, the Facebook scores API, or something similar. Is there some other possibility you had in mind?

I totally agree, but maybe something like a twitter powered solution? Something like scores kept in private tweets which the apps can read by using a private developer account. Blue sky thinking here…
Oh wow, that’s definitely an outside-the-box and actually very interesting idea… Will have to think about that some more. :-)

Blue sky thinking is fine and dandy, but Occam’s Razor kicks in. Which is the simpler explination: A cloud service or some complex way of saving a bunch of private tweets to myself (since I can’t read your private tweets)?
I’ve not downloaded it, but if I were a betting man, some custom database server or cloud storage. That’s how I would do it.
Oh, they’ve definitely got a cloud server doing something. Will have to take another look at our plugins again…
Did you see the new plugin provider that we announced yesterday? Together (playtogether.com). I got to look at it late last night and what a deep and rich cloud offering. It seems to be setup to store game data in the cloud among it’s other features.
I’ve read the article but as there is so much in the plugin’s API, I need a bit longer to digest it and figure out how to make use - but yes, I think this could be the one!
