Two builds with the same name?

I have a game that I’ve developed for iPad screen dimensions and will soon release for iPad, but I also intend to release an iPhone version soon thereafter with some appropriately different image sizes.

Is it possible/recommended for me to use the same application name for the game in both cases or should I call the iPad version myGameHD and the iPhone version just myGame? I’d like to use the same name if I can. [import]uid: 27901 topic_id: 22108 reply_id: 322108[/import]

Ideally the code should swap out the graphics based upon the reported device.
Then build a universal app, and there is only one app on the App Store.
But the HD suffix serves to tell people that it has been designed for iPad, and won’t be fuzzy zoomed up letters and pictures.
Im not the Oracle, but I’m aiming for an HD and a Pocket Edition to make the distinction. [import]uid: 108660 topic_id: 22108 reply_id: 87864[/import]

Users prefer universal apps, because they can buy once and run on both devices. If you release two apps some users moan about it, as they need to buy it again to play on their other device.

On the other hand, having two versions of the app means twice the visibility. Having said that, you’re ranks will also be split, so one may drop into obscurity. A universal app with lots of iPhone sales may help it with iPad sales and vice versa.

There’s no perfect answer, but i’d say go for a universal app. [import]uid: 8872 topic_id: 22108 reply_id: 87867[/import]
