UDID no more.....

According to this blog post from Ars Technica, Apple has started rejecting apps that transmit the UDID.

http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2012/03/after-warning-from-apple-apps-using-udids-now-being-rejected.ars

They have warned us to stop using it now they are doing something about it.
From a Corona SDK concern, are there plans for Inneractive (and any other 3rd party or things like analytics) to stop using the UDID? Amazon rejected an ad based game because the device ID was in the URL request. On the iOS side, do these libraries use the UDID without us knowing or controlling it?

yes… i am hacking http requests from ads and analytics systems quite a bit for a while, and i am sure that both inmobi and inneractive requests include plain udids… so, we are on the danger zone… [import]uid: 11686 topic_id: 23907 reply_id: 96341[/import]

And now I know the reason why it’s getting so much time for my app to get a review and update. I’m using inneractive ads :frowning: 8 days so far waiting for review for the update.
However the previous build is still up. [import]uid: 111017 topic_id: 23907 reply_id: 96357[/import]

Is your app “Waiting for Review” or “In Review”? If it’s “Waiting for Review”, then it has nothing to do with your content or using UDID’s by the ad vendors. It simply means you’re in the queue to be reviewed and it’s not been picked up by a reviewer yet.

Once it changed to “In Review” and you go 8 days, then there might be problems.

From my experience these are the times for the review process:

Waiting for Review -> In Review: 7-8 days.
In Review -> Processing for App Store: New Apps 6-24 hours, existing apps, around 30 minutes lately.
Processing for App Store -> Ready for Sale: under 10 minutes.
Ready for Sale -> (until you can find it, no email for that state): 2-6 hours for new apps. Obviously for existing apps, you’re still in the search data.

For empirical evidence… I uploaded both Omniblaster and Omniblaster Lite on Sunday March 18 and they both went into review today, right about 8 days to the hour. There are a lot of uploads right now with people producing 5.1/new iPad versions. My other two apps that I updated on a Friday night went into review on Saturday, again 8 days.

Interestingly enough, I discovered a debug alert I left on in Omniblaster and rejected the binary a couple of days ago and resubmitted it, and it went into review a couple of hours ago, so I did not appear to loose my place in line with it. argh! I sent my app in for review 6 days ago, with inneractive ads! Hope it still passes somehow… [import]uid: 14018 topic_id: 23907 reply_id: 96428[/import]

@Mitaten based on the article, only 2 of the 10 teams are rejecting based on UDIDs, so you have an 80% chance of being good. Then we don’t know how many apps they are rejecting either.

WOW! Guys - would my update be refused by apple because am using the Inneractive Ads network? and how about the lauchpad dashboard that we all have here under Corona site?

Please, let me know. It`s a danger news!

EDIT: Hey Ansca Team, Mrs. Peach Pellen, please, do you know what would I be able to do if I get my app refused due to it be using Inneractive`s Ads and also the Corona Lauchboard? I really need to know if I have to abandon the Ads network at all. Thanks as usual.
Thanks,
Rodrigo. [import]uid: 89165 topic_id: 23907 reply_id: 96417[/import]

Hello guys, my app passed the review and its ready for sale despite using Inneractive for ads.
So no worries for now. It should be just a warning from apple. [import]uid: 111017 topic_id: 23907 reply_id: 96519[/import]

@ info351 Thank you very much for the given attention. I really appreciate it.
Cheers,

@info351, @RSCdev

Hey, rumours say that; there are 10 test teams and 2 of them currently rejecting apps using UDIDs. It seems that, sooner or later all of them will be rejecting our future updates.

We really need an official transition roadmap from ansca.

cheers. [import]uid: 11686 topic_id: 23907 reply_id: 96529[/import]

@Deniz You`re absolutely right mate. We need the Ansca Team Support asap before Apple start to really “catch” our Corona Apps.

Cheers,
