@jhocking: I see where you’re coming from, but there are quite a few paid simplistic games that do really well. For example, where we drew inspiration from was ‘Doughnut Ninja’ which relies on the same basic gameplay. It was a paid app.
HOWEVER, our motivation for this game (as well as the next few quick ones we’ll be releasing) isn’t to make a lot of money from them individually. We’re releasing them as paid because we believe they are high enough quality to be considered worth $0.99 (just the time spent on the graphics alone is worth $0.99 in my opinion), and to also take advantage of the initial compensation because most apps usually have a small boost the first few days after release.
We’re working hard to build up our portfolio with simple, high quality games in a short mount of time and while we’re releasing them paid at the moment, once Ansca releases in-app purchase support (according to the December newsletter, that should be soon… hopefully?), we’ll likely add more content to this and our upcoming “simple” games and re-release them as free with optional premium content.
I hate ads personally, lol. [import]uid: 7849 topic_id: 4848 reply_id: 15611[/import]
