Upgrading to Corona itunes account

My developer has asked me to upgrade our itunes account to a corona account to accept apps built in corona. He says we currently have a basic itunes account.

He says the cost to upgrade this is $230 lifetime use.

He was unable to talk me through how to do this and I am unable to find any documentation on the web.

Im not sure if there is a communication breakdown or what, but we dont seem to be getting anywhere.

Can anyone enlighten me?

I definitely think there’s some confusion. There is no such thing as an iTunes account Corona upgrade. Devs use iTunes Connect to upload apps to the app store, but this is completely different and unconnected to Corona, it is part of the 99 dollar Apple app account.

I’d be very careful about paying this guy any money…!

Yeah, to be clear, there are two separate accounts you need to release iOS apps built with Corona:

  1. Corona account.  This is the account to use the Corona SDK and build apps with it. Pricing and what you get for that price are found here: http://coronalabs.com/pricing/

  2. iOS developer account from Apple.  This is $99/year and allows you to release apps in the iTunes store, regardless of how you build them.

That’s not to say that your developer hasn’t purchased assets (images, sounds, etc.) that might have a licensing fee as well.  But that would be specific to your project.  The two items above are what any developer using Corona to develop iOS apps would need to have.

Hope that helps.
