Is there any way possible other than going with Enterprise to manually set the targetSdkVersion to use version 23? I need a quick way to hopefully get this resolved for a build that I’m putting up on Google Play.
Thanks!
Nate

Is that what you’re looking for?
Thanks… actually it’s targetSdkVersion that I need to specify… Will this get applied if I put it like this in my build.settings?
settings = { android = { minSdkVersion = "14", targetSdkVersion = "23" } }
Well, I have no idea about that. There maybe some undocumented features including targetSdkVersion but I’m unaware of it.
Thanks for your help. I’m going to try it and see if I can detect if it’s been applied at all…
Any Corona staff know if adding this value as shown above to build.settings will actually apply it to the build? Going Enterprise really isn’t an option for me at this point and I really need to get the targetSdkVersion applied in addition to the minSdkVersion…
It seems that, they are not planning to give control to the developers on this one.
Ah, good find… thank you for that. Lots of good info in that thread.
Rob or any other staff - if you guys are able to provide an ETA on support of version 23 as target version in a future daily build that’d be great. Thanks!
Engineering works on Marshmallow support every day. It’s not an easy add.

Hi Borderleap,
do you really need to go for targetSdkVersion 23?
If the Google Review Team is asking you to support 23 to get featured don’t worry:
They asked me this for all apps of mine they featured, it’s on their list.
And every time I tell them that the current targetSdkVersion is not yet supported by the great Coronalabs SDK, so my hands are tied and if they can please give me a pass on this issue? And they always do.
And I of course tell them that as soon as Coronalabs supports the current targetSdkVersion I will push an update using it. And I always do.
Hope this might be relevant for you,

Thanks Rob and Andreas. And yes, Andreas that’s exactly what I did
I’ll update all of my apps on Google Play when 23 is supported by Corona.

Hey everyone,
To elaborate more on Rob’s comment, we’ve been hard at work to get Marshmallow support done. The biggest challenge that’s come from it is supporting the new Runtime permission model. It’s a large breaking change to how Android apps are developed and supporting it in a way that’s easy-to-use, powerful, and cross-platform has required significant additions/changes to Corona. Unlike iOS where management of privacy settings is mostly handled by the OS, it’s the developer’s responsibility to handle this on Android.
One change that’s been made related to cross-platform concerns is the behavior of media.hasSource(media.Camera) on iOS, detailed here. By that same token, once Marshmallow support is complete, your current Corona apps should work with minimal changes.
