Urgent: Do I Need A Restore Button If I Only Sells Consumables? (Ie: Coins)

Hello guys,

Sorry for the last minute question but I am having a doubt. I want to send to Apple an update tonight where people are going to be able to buy coins (to use in the game) so basically consumables. Logically I will not need to have a restore function nor show a restore button since those are consumables that cannot be restored. Now Apple asks for us to show a screenshot of the in-app and it will not have a restore button. I was wondering if I can send the app without a restore (and show a screenshot of my store without the restore button)

It is probably a stupid question but I really do not the app because it is missing restore button which does not make sense to have.

Am I making any sense??

Thanks guys.

Mo

Hey, Mo, I don’t think you need the restore button if you sell consumable items only.  You just need to submit a screenshot that shows what your users would see when he/she is about to purchase consumable items.  For example, if you have a store displaying your consumable items, that’s the screenshot you’d want to submit.

Naomi

Thanks Naomi! You always come to my rescue! Yes it makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately I had to postpone my upload to Apple since i found something wrong at the last minute. That’s life in the App world I guess…

Thanks again. I feel more comfortable sending my update (once I found my other issue)

Mo.

ps: If anybody think differently from Naomi and myself about the need of restore button even for consumables please speak up!

You do not need to have a restore button for consumables only Mo.

What I use to do: with the update, I put into the review info text field something like “Since I only have consumables, I do not need a restore button according to the guidlines”.

So you’re fine

Hey Dingo, thanks a bunch for he confirmation as well. Great idea, I will do that. By the way since we talking about info to give reviewer, do you usually give them a fake test user for them to try the in-app? Thanks a lot. Mo

I know this is old but for anyone reading it.

My app was approved with no restore button for consumables.

In the screenshots I took ones of the actual store and what happens when you buy (for me it just a native.popup saying thanks for purchase. I used a different screenshot for each IAP, actually showing that IAP in the store.

Also I didn’t supply any test account details, I presume they have their own.

Dave

Thanks Dave! yes I too was approved on my app with in-app and only consumables. I did not have restore button but I did setup and provided a test account info. Not sure they need that but…
