User Choosing Music

I am interested in allowing the user of my app to select a song on their device (that is totally independent of my app) and listening to it while my app is running. Basically, instead of me providing the background music I want them to select one of their songs and play it as the background music.

How do I open a browser window to let the user choose the song? Also where are songs stored on Android (including the Color Nook and Kindle Fire)?

Sorry, native access to the music library is currently not supported.

On iOS as a workaround, you can use the (advanced) AudioSession APIs to control mixing categories to allow the iPod music to continue playing so the user can still control music through the main iPod/iTunes app. On Android, I think everything mixes no matter what on Android.

Where is the documentation for the AudioSession APIs (I can find documentation for the Audio API but not the AudioSession APIs)?

Is there a simple tutorial demonstrating how to use them for Android?
