Using dynamic markers for the map?

Hello,

I see how to use different images as markers for the map. I wanted to show a marker with a different number in each which represents the rental amount for each marker. They could be anywhere from 25 to 500. I hate to make an image for each number. Is there any way to put text in a marker? Or any way to generate it on the fly? The only remote idea I have is to draw it on the screen and then capture each as an image. Any easier way of doing this?
