Using the Trial version - Unable to "Open For Build"

Hi,
I am new to Mac’s, Corona and xCode. I have now successfully transferred an app from my MacBook to my iPad OS5 using xCode but when I try to use the Corona Simulator to “Open for Build”, I get the following error:

The iOS SDK located at /Developer is missing the following component: copypng Please re-install the the iOS SDK.

I first tried putting an empty file called copypng into the /developer directory, that gave me a different message. I then tried to re-install xCode, still the same message, I then tried to re-install Corona, same message. I’m lost!!!

Hey,

I’ve just been told that this happens from time to time and when it does you need to reinstall Xcode.

The way that you actually do that is by using the installer, which you download from the Mac App Store.

That should clear it up :slight_smile:

Tried to reinstall or reinstalled using the installer for the Mac App Store? Did the reinstall fail? [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 16493 reply_id: 61898[/import]

I reinstalled using the download found at developer/apple.com/devcenter/ios/index.action#downloads

The one on the App Store does not install as it tells me that I need version Lion 10.7 and I only have Snow leppard 10.6.8

The install on the apple website does not complain but maybe that is why it does not install properly ??? [import]uid: 97768 topic_id: 16493 reply_id: 61905[/import]

You should run xcode-select -print-path as the other thread suggests to see where Xcode thinks it is installed to. If xcode-select doesn’t work, then Xcode is not installed correctly on your system and you will have to reinstall it. If the path is not where it should be, you can change it with xcode-select -switch

Hey Peach,
Here is what I did and it still does not work.:

  1. I change my MacBook to a MacBook Pro (didn’t have enough memory on the MacBook to install Lion which means that I couldn’t use the installer)
  2. I installed Lion
  3. I installed xCode (from the App Store with the installer)
  4. I installed Corona.
  5. tried running a test app to my iPad, using xCode, which didn’t work
  6. Exported the “Developer Profile” from my old MacBook and imported it in the new one
  7. tried running the test app to my iPad again using xCode, and that worked.
  8. Went in to my Corona Simulator and tried running a different app which worked.
  9. Tried to “Open for build” and that gave me the message :
    The iOS SDK located in /Developer is missing the following component(s): copying Please (re)install the the iOS SDK.

What iOS SDK is it talking about? xCode or Corona? I looked at the tread suggested by your coworker but couldn’t related to my problem.

Okay, that looks correct. There are several possibilities:

  • Your Corona version is really old
  • Your Xcode located in /Developer is an old version and not the one you just installed
  • Your Xcode didn’t install all the components

  1. What Corona version are you using?

  2. In Finder, go to /Developer/Applications and double-click the Xcode inside to launch it. Go to the menu and Select the ‘About’ and what is the version?

  3. You need to install the ‘Unix Tools’ with Xcode. This used to be an explicitly menu option in the installer as shown in the screenshot from the other link. You need to accomplish the same thing. The installer from the App Store might be hiding the old installer inside. From Finder, right-click the “Install Xcode” installer you get from the App Store and look for something like Xcode.mpkg (maybe in Contents/Resources) and try double clicking that. You should get an installer similar to the screenshot from the other link.

  1. the Corona Version is 2.0.0 (2010.9.16.148)
  2. the version of xCode is 4.2 build 4D199
  3. I did what you said, saw the screen with the Unix Tools, made sure it was checked and re-ran the install. Did a reboot, just in case, nothing changed. [import]uid: 97768 topic_id: 16493 reply_id: 62159[/import]

Oh geeze, that is a really, REALLY old version of Corona - where did you get it from? Did you just download a long time ago?

You need to upgrade to the latest stable version, .591 which you can do by clicking on “download” in the upper right corner.

It worked beautifully but now it only gives me a .app file, how do I move it on the iPad. When I perform the same operation in xCode, it send the app directly. Am I missing something? I don’t want it on iTune as it is just for testing ??? [import]uid: 97768 topic_id: 16493 reply_id: 62177[/import]
