Using Transparent PNG Images

Hi All,

Just after a few pointers with using transparent PNG’s. Is the only way to make use of them by manually masking the transparent areas?

If I create masks, I assume I have to create the same mask in different sizes to cater for dynamic resolution?

Is there no way for Corona to interprete the transparent pixels of a PNG image?

Many Thanks.

What do you mean interpret pixels of a PNG?  Are you using physics?

Transparency is handled natively with .png. So if part of your image is transparent it will be transparent in Corona, too. So as Jon asks; is this a physics question?

If this is a hit-testing question (so “touch”, not physics) then refer to this post.

Thanks Guys,

Rich it was just a basic question about using a transparent PNG. I wasn’t on or near my “development” PC so wasn’t able to try it. All the tutorials and information I found all said things about masking so I was under the impression that Corona would just cause transparent pixels in a PNG image to be a solid colour unless you applied a mask but it sounds awesome in that it does actually interpret transparency!

Thanks for replies for my basic noob question!
