Warning: Never Build code in Sample Code Directory

FYSA,

(For Your Situational Awareness)

I just lost 20+ hours of coding because when I tried to launch the Simulator, Corona didn’t remember where it was. I found the install.msi and let it do its thing.

Apparently one of the things it did was a complete re-install and overwrote it’s previous installation, including the sample code main.lua files.

For anyone reading this post, I recommend that you copy/create a new folder/directory anywhere NOT NEAR the corona install path. Create a new folder on your desktop if necessary and code from there.

Obvious?

Maybe in hindsight, but I did not realize corona losing it’s “launch path”, would do an over-write of my already installed corona and rebuild all directory w/ code over-writes, I just assumed it wanted to know where my shortcut was and to re-establish it’s thumbnail image or something.

I think I’m going to suggest this as the Social Media tip of the week.

This is really good advice.

also, use Time Machine (mac) (or on Windows, something similar like Genie timeline).
