Warning signs

Good morning everybody.

To start, I don’t want to be negative. But for a week now, I am having some difficulty with the SDK.

  • The build server has been down for a week and impossible to make a proper build

  • I paid for the admob plugin and whenever I include this plugin in my build.settings, the app crashes immediately on a physical android device. Am I the only one facing this issue ?

  • I cannot use admob to its full potential :  Rewarded ads are not working properly, and apparenty not top priority for Corona Team to fix a plugin developers paid for !

Are those warning signs of the end of Corona shortly. Should we consider moving to another SDK ?

If including AdMob in your build.settings crashes your app on start, then you’ve most likely not set it up properly. For help on that regard, you should (always) post your entire build.settings.

I’m not sure if anyone knows exactly what is going on with Corona’s servers, but I’m expecting this to be a temporary issue. I haven’t seen something like this in all the years I’ve used Corona. That being said, fixing the server issues should take top priority. Then there are some critical iOS issues to address, and then there’s time for AdMob and the like. I agree that since it is a paid plugin that Corona offers, it should receive significantly more attention, but it seems that their resources are simply stretched too thin for the time being with the recent and upcoming big Android and iOS changes.

Please keep discussion on the server outage on this thread: https://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/76957-use-this-thread-is-the-build-server-down/

We pretty much have a good idea of what’s causing the AdMob rewarded video issues, but we can’t fix it yet because we have to get serverless builds for iOS work an more importantly we have to get the servers back up.

Rob

for real? I reported the admob issues back in July 2019. people are paying for a broken plugin yet iOS builds are more important.  Says who exactly?

just carry on paying for a broken plugin…

@all

I feel s omething weird here. @Dodo Software you have been a member of the forum for a month but you ask as a professional programmer. Well, each one advances according to his intellect and that is respected. I personally don’t like to read topics related to which Corona SDK is comin g to an end, etc. Preferably I would like to tell each developer to be more creative, work harder to achieve our dreams and be more considerate of those behind this SDK. Like you, I have looked for options and believe me, learning another SDK, migrating the apps or games would be devastating. Like many I also pay plug-in s and sometimes I feel disappointed, but, I have achieved so much and so easy with Corona SDK that I really do not want it to come to an end. Let’s be more empathic and build never destroy.
