Was Carlos forced out? Who is the new CEO?

I am very concerned about the sudden departure of Carlos and the lack of response/info from the rest of the Corona team re: the situation and who is the new CEO, etc.

Given the new iPad retina fiasco from a few weeks ago and the failure of Corona to keep ahead of competitors, my concern as a Corona developer is that the investors/board pushed Carlos out. We need more info on this, please. The last few months have eroded confidence in Corona’s leadership already and the way this departure has been announced is pretty unprofessional and unnerving.

Given that we rely on Corona’s servers to compile our games, we place an unusual amount of trust in the company beig solid and around in the future. We need more assurance from the leadership. I am getting nervous. [import]uid: 135391 topic_id: 24890 reply_id: 324890[/import]

+1

Statement from Ansca as soon as possible please! [import]uid: 13632 topic_id: 24890 reply_id: 101011[/import]

I’m also quite worried, especially because we can compile only on Corona’s servers…

Definitely, we need a statement on the current situation from Ansca. [import]uid: 9158 topic_id: 24890 reply_id: 101016[/import]

As far as i am aware Carlos wasn’t forced out of the company but left on the grounds of ‘personal reasons’ i have not read anywhere that it was due to the board of investors pushing him our or any disputes with Carlos and the rest of the Ansca Team (unless im wrong of course)

However in respect to Ansca not responding quick enough, i think that is a false statement and thought that Ansca responded very quickly considering how secretly Apple function and not releasing any actual information to their partners or affiliates.

finally, i like any other Corona user will deeply miss Carlos however i have complete faith in his leadership/management and im sure he would have passed on his love for Corona and making a genuine change to the world of mobile application development. I also would like to add that Carlos was part of a great TEAM of people, who will ensure that what we pay for Corona is reflected in their product and will continuously strive to innovate and grow the community.

I know Carlos said it was “personal reasons”, but he confirmed on Twitter it wasn’t health-related. “Personal reasons” is often a cover in these situations for a board/investor force-out. Co-founder/CEO’s basically never leave during the first couple of years of a startup unless they are forced out or things are falling apart for the company. They lose a lot of their founder’s shares due to vesting and their reputation takes a huge hit. The fact that the rest of the team has been silent on this (where is Walter?) and no one has stepped in to reassure us is very concerning.

The new iPad thing was a huge black mark on Corona. Other SDK companies, including cross-platform SDK companies, did not have problems like Corona apps did. That was a Corona design/engineering failure. And they should have seen it coming.

I like a lot of things about Corona, but I am very concerned about this. The Corona team hasn’t been making the strategic moves that Appcelerator and other cross-platform SDK companies have and have been slow to improve. Other recent changes, i.e. the announcement of new engineering bug fix/feature change cycles, also show that the management knows things haven’t been going that well. I thought Walter was CEO. See: http://www.crunchbase.com/company/ansca [import]uid: 42082 topic_id: 24890 reply_id: 101028[/import]

Hmm. I thought Carlos was the CEO. Good to know, although Carlos was obviously the face of Corona and a co-founder, so my concerns are still there. [import]uid: 135391 topic_id: 24890 reply_id: 101040[/import]

I see, Carlos was Co-founder and CEO at Ansca, Inc. from 2007-2010 and then just Co-Founder from 2010 to present, while Walter Co-founder and CEO.

But, for example on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ansca_Mobile) and many other place he is listed as CEO.

I guess probably Walter is the CEO.

Anyway, let’s wait for an official statement.
